Handmade Ceramic Plates

Every plate here is a handmade ceramic plate, and I mean that literally. I throw each one on the wheel, draw and paint the recipe onto it by hand, then fire it in the kiln. Nothing is printed, and no two come out the same.

Each plate turns a recipe you love into something you can display where guests will see it, and still eat from. I make ten to order each month. Pick one of three signature recipes, or bring your own.

Four plates, one of each is yours to make.

Carbonara Plate

Rome's most argued-over dish.

Margherita Pizza Plate

The colours of Italy on a plate, the way Naples intended.

Tiramisù Plate

The dessert everyone asks for.

Custom Plate

Bring your own recipe. A family dish, a wedding meal, a memory. Designed with me and painted onto a plate that's never been made before. Your shape, your colour, your story.
The craft

What "handmade" actually means here.

Most plates sold as handmade start life as blanks, bought in and then decorated. Mine don’t. I throw the plate first, so the shape is mine before any paint goes on, and I draw the recipe straight onto it rather than onto someone else’s blank.

The rest comes from the years I spent restoring art. That work taught me how a painted mark sits on a surface, how pigment ages, why a real brushstroke catches the light in a way a print never can. You feel it the moment you pick one up, and it’s why no two are ever quite alike.

Your options

Choosing yours.

Every signature plate is the same hand-drawn recipe on the same cream base.
What changes is the colour I paint it in, and the size.

  • Three recipes: Carbonara, Margherita, or Tiramisù. Or commission your own.
  • Three colours: Admiral Blue, Dark Olive Green, or Sangria Red.
  • Two sizes: 22 cm or 25 cm, the same price either way.
  • Made to order: I start yours from raw clay only after you order, so allow about a month.
  • Arrives ready: signed, with a certificate of authenticity and its own display stand.

How it works.

A new batch opens the first Sunday of every month at 7pm AWST. Ten spots, first come. Join the list and you’ll hear first, then choose your plate or commission your own, and over the next few weeks I make it by hand and send you updates as it takes shape.

The maker

Made by one pair of hands.

I’m Franci. I trained as an art conservator in Italy, and now I make every plate by hand from my studio in Western Australia. You’ll watch yours take shape, from raw clay to the last brushstroke, and if it ever arrives damaged, I’ll make you a new one, free.

A real recipe, painted by hand, the only one of its kind.
